This member of the Moraceae family was given this name by Pehr Forsskål in 1775. It is found in eastern Africa and the Arab Peninsular. Not fuzzy with the soil; it can even grow as a epiphyte! Some sun and some water, and you will eventually end up with a 25 meter high tree.
The genera name originates from the old Latin name for Ficus carica which was from the Persian word fica.
The species name puzzles me: Either 'delayed' or 'whip'? The leaves of Matthias Kist's plant.
