This member of the Moraceae family was described by Carl Linnaeus the younger in 1782. It's found in India, China and Malaysia. It is really easy, doesn't care much about the soil, some water and from shadow to full sun. The stem will grow up to one meter in diameter and reach 15 meters high. It can be reproduced both by cuttings and seeds.

The genera name originates from the old Latin name for Ficus carica which was from the Persian word fica.

The species name means 'small fruits'. Perfect for bonsai.
