EURYOPS NAMAQUENSIS

This member of the Asteraceae family was described by Friedrich Richard Rudolf Schlechter in 1899. It is found in Namaqualand, South Africa and southern Namibia, growing in a well drained soil or grit with little water and lots of sun. The stem can grow to three centimetres in diameter, the whole plant up to 30 centimetres height. The flowers are yellow.

The genera name from the Greek eurys; 'large' and -ops; 'eye', referring to the large flowers. The species name as it originates from the Namaqua desert. IPNI: Compositae family.
