It is found in Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Nigeria, Sudan and Zaïre. It grows in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The thickened rootstock can grow to 20 centimetres in diameter, the vines can grow up to three or four metres. The flowers are golden-yellow.
