This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was described by Werner Rauh in 1992. It is found around Toliara, south-western Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to five centimetres in diameter, the branches up to 50 centimetres long. The flowers are red-brown.

The genera name; Euphorbia dates back to the first century BC, where King Juba II of Mauritania used it in a reference to his doctor, Euphorbos, and that name was kept as a generic name by Carl von Linnaeus. The species name from from the place it first was found on Madagascar: Sakaraha. Another plant from Specks.de.
