EUPHORBIA RESTITUTA

This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1915. It is found in Namaqualand; south-western South Africa, growing in a well drained soil or pure grit with little to some water and lots of sun. The swollen stem can grow to eight centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 30 or even 45 centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish yellow. This is a winter grower in the wild. The genera is named after Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The species name for its ability to rectitude after the dry summer.
