EUPHORBIA PLATYRRHIZA

This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Leslie Charles Leach in 1976. It is found in Kabompo in the western Zambia, growing in a well drained sandy soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 30 centimetres in diameter, they write, the entire plant to 20 centimetres in height. The genera is named after Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The species is named from Latin; platy; 'broad' and Greek; rhiza; 'root. Larger plant by Leslie Charles Leach.
