EUPHORBIA PANCHGANIENSIS

This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Ethelbert Blatter and Yale Mervin Charles McCann in 1930. It is found in southern India, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to seven centimetres in diameter and 25 centimetres long. The leaves on the short branches reach fifteen centimetres while the inflorescence only grow to six centimetres, appearing in the long, dry period.

The genera name; Euphorbia dates back to the first century BC, where King Juba II of Mauritania used it in a reference to his doctor, Euphorbos, and that name was kept as a generic name by Carl von Linnaeus.
