EUPHORBIA GUERICHIANA

This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Heinrich G. Adolf Engler in 1894. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Namibia, western South Africa and Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow to 30 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant can grow from a two meter bush to a six meter tree centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish. The genera is named after Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The species is named after the German geologist Georg Guerich, 1859-1938, who collected plants in Namibia.
