This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1915. It is found in western South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to four centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to ten centimetres in height. The flowers are cream coloured. The genera is named after Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The species is named after the appearance near the town of Prince Albert.
