This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Thomas Haevermans and Wilbert Leonard Anna Hetterscheid in 2021. It is found in southern Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil or grit with some water and some sun. The caudex might grow to 30 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to six metres in height. The flowers are greenish yellow. The genera is named after Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. This species epithet is dedicated to Agathe Haevermans, scientific illustrator at the Institut de Systématique, Evolution, Biodiversité, Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, for her numerous scientific illustrations of Madagascar plants and for her contribution to the discovery of this species while doing fieldwork together with the first author in 2006 Flowers by Désiré Ravelonarivo, Tropicos.org.
