The genera name after Louis Michel Français Doère;1811 – 1863, a French zoologist and agronomist. It was introduced by René de Grosourdy in El Médico Botánico Criollo 1(2): 338. 1864. I have not been able to find it. The species name emeto menas 'vomiting', and cathartica means 'of purging effect'. The leafs by Barry Hammel, Flickr.com.
