This member of the Moraceae family was given this name by Gottfried Wilhelm Johannes Mildbraed in 1934. It is found in the central and south-eastern Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil with quite some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to? centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 100 or perhaps even 300 centimetres in height. The flowers are light green and brownish. The genera is named after Theodor Dorsten, 16th century German botanist and medical professor at Marburg. The species name for the flower: "tender ray-like". The flower by Cok Grootscholten.
