The caudex can grow to nine centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 60 centimetres in height. The flowers are green and yellow to pink.

The genera name from the Greek kyphos; 'tumor' or,'hump' and stemma; 'garland' or 'crown'. The species name from Latin oleris; 'vegetable'. The fruits by Joseph Heymans, Inaturalist.org.. The flowers by Lyn Wadley, Waterberg-bioquest.co.za. The leaves by Antoinette Eyssell Knox, Inaturalist.org.
