This member of the Primulaceae family was given this name by James Edward Smith in 1806. It is found in Southern Europe and Algeria, growing in a rich soil with quite some water and little to some sun. The caudex can grow to 4,5 or even 7 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 10 centimetres in height. The flowers are reddish pink.

The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name repandum is Latin for 'bent back' or 'turned up'. The caudex from Cyclamen.org.
