This member of the Primulaceae family was given this name by Friedrich Hermann Gustav Hildebrand in 1897. It is found in a small area in the Amanus and Anti-Taurus Mountains of southern Turkey, growing in a well drained but rich soil with some water and little to some sun. The caudex can grow to four centimetres, the leaves raises to eight and the bright flowers to fifteen centimetres.

The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name from pseudo; 'false' and - bericum must be Lebanon: 'false Lebanese'. It is a real early spring grower.
