This member of the Primulaceae family was given this name by Carl Ludwig Sprenger in 1892. It is found in south-western Turkey, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to five or even seven centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to eight centimetres in height. The flowers are from white, over shades of pink to carmine purple.
The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name despite it is found only in the altitude of from 350–1500 metres.
