This member of the Cycadaceae family was given this name by Kenneth D. Hill in 1992. It is found in eastern Queenslane; north-eastern Australia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 20 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to two or even four metres in height. The cones are light brown.
The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name from Latin; ophiolite; ' serpentine' - not sure which part of the plant. The female cone by L.
