This member of the Cycadaceae family was given this name by Paul Irwin Forster in 1995. It is found in Queensland; North-Eastern Australia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow from fifteen to 25 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to four or even seven centimetres in height. The male cones are orange - brown, the fruits are olive-green.

The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name for the remote locations it is found in. Another plant by Yvonne Dalziel, Cycadlist.org. The fruits by Yvonne Dalziel, Cycadlist.org.
