This member of the Cycadaceae family was given this name by Kenneth D. Hill in 1999. It is found in the Khao Chamao mountain in south-eastern Thailand, growing in granite gravel with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 30 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to ten metres in height. The cones are brown.

The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name from the Khao Chamao mountains, where it is found. Habitat from Alchetron.com. Young plant by Palmbob.
