This member of the Cupressaceae is a dwarf subspecies of the plant named by Philipp Franz Balthasar von Siebold & Joseph Gerhard Zuccarini in 1847. It is originally found in the southern part of Japan and on Taiwan, growing in a well drained but rich with some water and some to lots of sun. This dwarf form grows only up to three meters (the normal form up to 35) and the caudex to 35 centimetres in diameter (the normal form a stem up to 180 centimetres in diameter). The male cones are reddish brown, the females yellow green. It can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings. Found this one in Roskilde, Denmark. Nice rounded caudex in an unexpected place! Real dense foliage.
