This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was given this name by Ramalingam Kottaimuthu in 2019. It is found in the Theni District, Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu in India, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow from four to six centimetres in diameter, the entire plant from eight to fifteen centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow, brown, greenish yellow to pinkish brown, rarely dark purple blotches inside, sometimes dark purple or brownish above half, mid-vein prominent outside;
The genera name is from the Greek word keropegion meaning 'candelabrum', because Linnaeus thought that the flowers looked like candles. The species name after Malayalam, which is the local languish and tribe. *)Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Asclepiadaceae is now part of the Apocynaceae.
