This member of the Ericaceae family was given this name by Marco Marcelo Jiménez León and Leisberth Alexis Vélez-Abarca in 2021. It is found in the low mountains of south-eastern Ecuador, growing as an epiphyte with some water and quite some sun sun. The caudex can grow from 15 to 25 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 60 centimetres in height. The flowers are magenta to pale purple magenta.

The genera name is named for the "horns" on the stem some species have. The species name after the location of the first collection; Zamora in Ecuador.
