This member of the Ericaceae family was given this name by James Leonard Luteyn in 2005. It is found in the heights in Ecuador, growing as an epiphyte with quite some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex might grow to seven centimetres in diameter, the entire plant might grow to 80 centimetres in height. The flowers are dark maroon-red, while the berries are translucent cream

The genera name is named for the "horns" on the stem some species have. The species name means 'hanging'. A caudex from Wild Wind, Twitter.com.
