This member of the Cucurbitaceae family was given this name by Ignatz Urban in 1908. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Netherlands Antilles, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, Venezuela, Venezuelan Antilles and Windward Island, growing in a rich soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow up to 30 centimetres in diameter, the wines reach for two meters. The flowers are white to pale yellow. Name from Greek: Keratos 'a horn' and anthos 'a flower', alluding to the shape of the petals. Palmata referring to the hand-like leaves. Tribe Melothrieae, subtribe Dendrosicyinae. Leaves by G.
