This member of the Burseraceae family was given this name by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in 1825. It is found on Jamaica and in Oaxaca, Mexico. It will eventually grow to three and a half meter with a stem measuring 30 or even 50 centimetres in diameter. It need a well drained soil with some water when in growth and lots of sun. The small flowers are greenish yellow. Named after: Joachim Burser, German/Danish botanist (1583-1639). The species after it simple leaves.
