This member of the Burseraceae family was given this name by Townshend Stith Brandegee in 1891. It is found on Baja California, and in southern Mexico, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stems only grow to fifteen centimetres - a bit slim for a true caudiciform - and the bush will eventually reach three and a half or even five meters height. The small flowers are greenish yellow or crème coloured. Named after: Joachim Burser, German/Danish botanist (1583-1639). The species name after Richard Brinsley Hinds, a British naturalist.
