This member of the Amaryllidaceae family was described by Frances Margaret Leighton in 1932. It is found in the Cape Province of South Africa and Namibia, growing in sand or other well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The bulb will grow up to nine centimetres or more, the leaves will lay flat on the ground, and reach a length of 30 centimetres.

The name Brunsvigia, in honour of the Duke of Brunswick. The species is named after Marie Bosman, who collected the plant for Leightont. This is a winter grower. Photo by Rachel Saunders, Wikipedia.org.
