This member of the Portulacaceae family was given this name by Graham Williamson in 1994. It is found in north-western South Africa, growing in a well drained soil or grit with little to some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to two centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to two centimetres in height.
The species name from the Greek word anakamptein, meaning 'to bend backwards' or 'restore', and Greek; eros; 'love'. The species name from Latin; scopate; 'bush-like'.
