It is found in Assam, Bangladesh, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Khasi of India, growing around 2100 metres height as an epiphyte with some water and some sun. The genera name from 'agapétos' meaning 'lovely', referring to the flower. The species name means 'upside-down egg-shaped'.
