This member of the Passifloraceae family was given this name by Willem Jan Jacobus Oswald de Wilde in 1971. It is found in Congo and western Zambia and might be in southern Angola as well. It is growing in a well drained soil with siome water and some to lots of sun. The caudex is elongated, the entire plant to 40 centimetres in height. The flowers are pale yellow.
The name Adenia is derived from aden, meaning gland, and pertains to the glands found on leaves of most of the species.
